The combination and mixture may differ from one manufacturer to another, but the basic procedure in making them is just the same.

    It can be made from a combination different seafood like boneless fish fillets, crab meat, scallops, Pacific hake, Alaskan Pollock, lobster, and squid, among many others. Other ingredients are also added into the mixture such as salt, egg whites, and starch. The process usually continues by forming the said mixture into products that resemble other types of seafood like crab legs, scallops, and crab meat. The resulting product can then be used in many surimi recipes.

    Product Specifications

    Most of these products that are sold in the United States are made from Alaskan Pollock. Of course, you'll find other types that are sold in stores everywhere. You can actually order this seafood product in various sizes and dimensions. Sizes can range from 80 to 100 grams per piece. Take note that the actual seafood product you get to cook will normally be made up 30 to 60% actual surimi, according to a customer's specifications.
