    There are many biscuit jointer sizes, with some of the more popular models measuring 15 x 6 x 6 (L x W x H). Other units measure 15 x 4 x 4, 12 x 4 x 3 and 16 x 6 x 2. The tool is also called a joiner, biscuit joiner or plate joiner.

    Facts about the Biscuit Jointer

This is a power tool used in woodworking. In particular it is used for fusing wood parts as one. The tool is best suited for combining wood along the corners. The tool can also be used to join wood aligned by the sides (i.e. the top of a table).

Whatever the jointer size is, the utility can be used to produce polished looking edges. These edges can be applied on picture frames, craft projects, household items, cabinets and shelves.

    Application and Usage

The biscuit jointer is utilized to slice slots in wood that will be fused. To make the secure joint, a biscuit is placed between the slots that are glue coated.

The biscuits for the joiners are oval shapes. This can be set in the slots. These help in keeping the joints in one piece. This can be done with the assistance of clamps and the woodworking glue.

    Other Information

The joiner hardware generates the slots that look like half circles. The knob will produce the required angle. This is usually at 45 or 90 degrees. The fence is an adjustable component used to guide the depth and height needed.

The fence on the jointer is used to keep the slice parallel to the work’s edge. A high quality fence will produce the precise results with the biscuit jointer. Be careful when choosing the fence; the wrong fence will not produce the desired results.

Biscuits may be sliced with a router but it can damage the piece. Keep in mind that the joiner cutters have to be replaced after being used for a while. Depending on the tool, it will require replacement after sharpening a few times.

This will happen because the thickness is reduced. If the device is of high quality, this will take a while though. Check the quality of the product before you buy it.

Remember that the biscuit jointer size will continue to change as technology changes. You can be updated by checking out the latest versions. These can be found in Internet stores and also in home improvement shops.
