    Freight container sizes are dependent upon manufacturers, who come up with various specifications. The sizes listed below are some of the most commonly used. However, there are other specs that may be utilized.

    Unit Load Devices

    These are the containers employed by airlines. The specs are as follows. These do not include the containers that are custom made for special deliveries.

    LD-1 is 92.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. The base is 61.5 in and the max load is 3500 lb or 1588 kg. LD-2 is 61.5 wide, 64.0 in high, 47.0 in deep and the base is 61.5 in. The max load is 2700 lb or 1225 kg.

    Freight container size LD-3 is 79.0 in wide, 64.0 high and 60.4 deep. The base is 61.5 in and the capacity is 3500 lb or 1588 kg.

    LD-4 is 96.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. The max load is 5400 lb or 2449 kg. LD-5 is 125.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. The load capacity is 7000 lb or 3175 kg.

    LD-6 is 160.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. The base is 125.0 in. The maximum capacity is 7000 lb or 3175 kg. LD-7 has a width of 125.0 in. The height is 64.0 in while the depth is 80.0 in. The load capacity is 13300 lb, equal to 6033 kg.

    Other Freight Container Sizes

    LD-8 is 125.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. The base is 96.0 in. The maximum load capacity is 5400 lb or 2449 kg. LD-9 is 125.0 in wide, 64.0 high and 80.0 in deep. The load capacity is 13300 lb or 6033 kg. LD-10 measures 125.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 60.4 in deep. 7000 lb or 3175 kg is the load capacity.

    LD-11 has a width of 125.0 in. The height is 64.0 in and the depth is 60.4 in. The load capacity for this freight container size is 7000 lb or 3175 kg. LD-29 is 186.0 in wide, 64.0 in high and 88.0 in deep. The base is 125.0 in. The max load capacity is 13300 lb or 6033 kg.

    Other Types of Containers

    The 20 ft FR container weighs 5,200 lb with a payload of 66,450 lb. The internal measurements are 19′ 6" x 7′ 8" x 7′ 8" (L x W x H). The 20ft general purpose container is 19′ 4" long, 7′ 9" wide and 7′ 10" high. The door is 7′ 8" wide and 7′ 6" high. The maximum payload is 62,130 lb and the weight is 5,070 lb.

    The 20 ft open top weighs 5,200 lb with a 61,990 lb payload. It measures 19′ 4" x 7′ 8" x 7′ 8" (Lx W x H). The door is 7′ 7" wide and 7′ 3" high.

    The freight container sizes shown here can be used to carry plenty of cargo. For special packages, it is possible to have boxes with different measurements built for them.
