    The biggest amusement park in the world in terms of attendance is the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It attracted 17.2 million visitors in 2009 alone.

    Overview

    The Magic Kingdom was the first park to be constructed at the resort. Its opening day was on October 1, 1971. The site has many unique features, but the layout is similar to Disneyland to the park at Anaheim, California.

    The site has 46 attractions and half a dozen lands. The layout is such that it resembles a wheel. At the front of the Cinderella Castle is the wheel’s hub. The paths lead out to the lands, spanning 107 acres (0.43 km2).

    Main Street, U.S.A.

    Main Street has different architectural styles inspired by the Midwestern American town. The design is mostly early 20th century. The Emporium sells numerous Disney items and souvenirs. The Plaza Restaurant and Tony’s Town Square are the main eateries.

    Adventureland

    This section has themes patterned after jungles in the South Pacific, South America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. There is also a sector that looks like a Caribbean town square. Rides like Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean are available here.

    Frontierland

    The world’s biggest amusement park has its own version of the Wild West in Frontierland. Attractions include the Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Visitors can also explore the American Rivers. Located at the end of Main Street is Cinderella Castle.

    Liberty Square

    This sector is inspired by the American Revolutionary town. The Liberty Belle riverboat is here. The Hall of Presidents and the famous Haunted Mansion are also at the site.

    Fantasyland

    This part is fashioned like a medieval-faire/carnival style. Some of the popular sites here are the Mad Tea Party, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel and Snow White’s Scary Adventures. Mickey’s PhilharMagic, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo the Flying Elephant are also popular. Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world” are also included.

    Tomorrowland

    This area is styled like a futuristic city. As such, its attractions are futuristic and space oriented. Some of its most famous features are the Speedway and Space Mountain.

    The biggest amusement park in the world is presently undergoing expansion. Some of the proposed additions are a ride themed after the Little Mermaid. There will be an area inspired by the film Beauty and the Beast. Other attractions are also going to be added.
