It’s fun to dress-up baby girls. There are just so many cute and dainty little dresses that you can find in stores and even “everyday” clothes come in pretty designs. This is even more exciting for first-time parents of a baby girl.
Now, choosing designs and styles is the easy part. It’s figuring out the right size for your baby that’s pretty tough. See below for a guide on finding clothes sizes for your baby girl.
First off, there are size charts that you can find for baby clothes. Some give the size and the recommended baby age for specific sizes while others go as far as providing you with approximate measurements of the baby’s chest, waist and height and weight the clothes size is intended for.
Just for your reference, check the following recommended baby girl clothes sizes based on weight, height, chest and waist measurement:
Newborn – weight: 7 lbs. and 11.45 oz; height: 22.04 in.; chest: 14.96 in.; waist: 14.37 in.
0 to 3 Months – weight: 13 lbs. and 3.64 oz; height: 24.41 in.; chest: 17.13 inc.; waist: 15.95 in.
3 to 6 Months – weight: 17 lbs. and 10.19 oz.; height: 26.77 in.; chest: 18.11 in.; waist: 16.73 in.
6 to 9 Months – weight: 22.046 lbs.; height: 29.13 in.; chest: 18.90 in.; waist: 17.13 in.
For sizes after 6 to 9 Months, measurements do not generally include the baby’s weight; as in the following:
9 to 12 Months – height: 31.5 in.; chest: 19.69 in.; waist: 17.72 in.
12 to 18 Months – height: 33.86 in.; chest: 20.08 in.; waist: 18.31 in.
18 to 24 Months – height: 36.22 in.; chest: 20.47 in.; waist: 19.29 in.
After the 18 to 24 Months size come the Toddler sizes. These sizes are for kids aged 2 up to about 6 years old.
Size 2 to 3 – height: 38.58 in.; chest: 21.06 in.; waist: 20.08 in.
Size 3 to 4 – height: 40.94 in.; chest: 21.85 in.; waist: 20.47 in.
Size 5 to 6 – height: 45.67 in.; chest: 23.62 in.; waist: 21.65 in.
Shopping for Baby Clothes
When shopping for baby clothes, it would be a good idea to have your baby’s measurements ready particularly if you will be shopping online or if you will be visiting the department store without your baby in tow.
This will give the sales assistant a reference point for helping you pick out the right clothes size for your baby, no matter the design or style that you prefer.
